About Shumaar — Where Words Find Their Feeling

Shumaar is an independent Hindi poetry and shayari blog founded in 2021 and based in Hyderabad, India. What began as a personal collection of favourite shayaris has grown into one of India’s trusted online destinations for Hindi and Urdu poetry — organically reaching tens of thousands of readers every month.
The name “Shumaar” — meaning “count” or “reckoning” in Urdu — reflects our belief that every emotion deserves to be counted and expressed. Shumaar exists to carry that tradition forward into the digital age.

The Story Behind Shumaar

Shumaar was born out of a simple frustration — the best Hindi shayari was scattered across the internet in poor quality, badly formatted, and often without credit to the original poet. We wanted to build something different. A place where shayari is presented with the respect it deserves — with the poet’s name, the context behind the verse, and enough surrounding information that a reader walks away with a genuine connection to the words they just read.
Five years later, that is still the standard every post on Shumaar is held to.
